Reader’s Services

This section is directly responsible in dealing with clients by providing effective, efficient and easy access and retrieval of library materials in the following areas :

Circulation Area

  1. Directs researchers to appropriate books and other sources of

information in the Circulation

  1. Loans out circulation books to clients
  2. Conducts interview to clients applying for borrowers card
  3. Processes library/ borrowers card
  4. Gives assistance on the use of the OPAC
  5. Conducts service orientation

Children’s Services

  1. Conducts storytelling to elementary pupils
  2. Provides Interactive Children’s Educational Computer Games
  3. Furnishes area for recreational activities (i.e., board games, indoor

larong pinoy (i.e., sungka) and other educational games)

Periodical Services

  1. Provides updated newspaper clippings and indexes significant articles

including history materials

       Filipiniana/Davaoeñana Section

           This section is a repository of materials regarding the Philippines/Davao either published within or outside the country, authored by a Filipino or foreign writers. This   section     includes books in the different fields of specialization. A     collection of special Filipiniana/Davaoeñana Books is also found in the  section.  It also contains the books allocated by the National Library of the Philippines.          

IT Section

The Information Technology Section offers computer and internet access, academic research, e-mails,  basic computer literacy tutorial and     e-gov services.

Technical Section

Technical Services is responsible for acquiring, cataloging, and processing library collections materials in both hard copy and electronic formats.

  1. Receives and controls books
  2. Accessions newly acquired books
  3. Catalogs and classifies books
  4. Makes bibliographic information of books available in the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)
  5. Preserves library materials (i.e., repair, bindery)
  6. Assists in the retrieval of loaned-out and borrowed books

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Service Hours

The Library is open to clients from 7:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m. from Mondays thru Fridays. (No Noon Break)

General Rules

          Books, magazines and other library materials are easily accessible to the public as they are intended to serve them.  However, the following rules must be observed:

BAGGAGE COUNTER

  1. All users are advised to leave their bags at the baggage counter, except their wallets, electronic devices  and other valuable materials.  The library staff will not be responsible for any loss.
  2. Number tags will be issued corresponding to the owner’s belongings. They must be properly kept otherwise lost number will be charged. 
  3. Library staff are not held responsible for any lost unclaimed items at the baggage counter.

ENTRANCE AND EXIT

  1. All users must present their library cards upon entering. These cards are non-transferrable.
  2. Sign up the log sheet at the entrance.
  3. Present your belongings to the Officer of the Day (OD) before leaving the library.
  4. Users must be subjected for frisking/inspection before leaving the library.

ON LIBRARY USE

  1. The clientele are expected to handle library materials with care, they are intended to service a great number of users.
  2. Library users should return books, magazines to their proper places.
  3. No materials should be brought outside unless it has been recorded.

ON LIBRARY BEHAVIOR

  1. Speak softly when inside the library.
  2. Foods and drinks are to be taken outside the library except bottled water.
  3. Keep the library clean. Waste should properly disposed.
  4. Vandalism and mutilation of library materials are strictly prohibited.
  5. Set your Cell phones in silent or vibrating mode. Charging mobile phones and other devices are not allowed inside the library.

BORROWING PROCEDURE  

  1. IN-HOUSE USE
  1. Library card is required to avail in-house services. Books and other library materials can be photocopied adherent to the Copyright Law.
  2. Users may use the Online Public Access Catalog for easy retrieval of library materials needed.
  3. Users are required to sign the log sheet for statistical purposes.
  4. Periodical materials are to be read inside the area except when the area is fully occupied.
  5. Encyclopedia, multi-cultural section materials and other General Reference books should not be taken outside the library.
  1. ON LOANING OUT
  1. Holder of borrower’s card can avail a maximum of 3 fiction or circulation books for seven days. 
  2. A borrower may renew a book on or before due date, provided no has requested for it. A fine of one peso per day including Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays will be charged for overdue books.
  3. Special borrowers (i.e., City Government Employees) are allowed to take a maximum of 3 fiction/circulation books.
  4. Clippings, newspapers, magazines can be loaned out for photocopying purpsoses, to be returned at once.
  5. Lost books should be replaced with the same title, however, if the books are not available in the market, it should paid based on the present market value at the City Treasurer’s Office.

 

  • COMPUTER AND INTERNET USE
  1. Present library card and sign in the log-sheet.
  2. Use of the computer and internet facilities shall be on a first come, first served basis.  Priorities will be given to clients doing research and those who are accessing e-Government services.
  3. The following are strictly prohibited:
  4. altering the configurations and opening any application without permission from the IT personnel;
  5. Utilizing library equipment to access illegal materials as specified in the Internet use;
  6. Computer games/online games;
  7. bringing of food and beverages.

            Mini skirt, mini shorts, revealing clothing are not allowed
